Dagaz is the light of dawn. It is not the full sun, nor the sunset: it is the instant of dawn, the precise moment when the night dissolves and everything changes. It is the rune of instant transformation, of the passage from one cycle to the next, of the realization that transforms one's entire existence. Where Ingwaz was the ripening seed, Dagaz is the sprout that breaks through the earth to touch the light.
Its symmetrical shape recalls two joined triangles: a bridge, a threshold, an hourglass in which space and time are reversed. Dagaz is a rune of spiritual fulfillment, of change that never comes back, but also of joy and completeness.
Its companion stone is citrine, a luminous crystal of the sun and trust. Citrine awakens creative will, dissolves fear of change, infuses new energy, and attracts the right kind of prosperity. With Dagaz, it becomes a spark that illuminates a new day, a guide during rebirths and profound openings of the being.
To activate Dagaz, draw the rune with gold or yellow ink on white paper, or trace it at sunrise. Light a gold or light orange candle. Hold the citrine in your right hand or at heart level. The ritual sound is pronounced in a clear, rising tone:
“Daaa-gaaaz!”
as if an internal window were opening to the light.
During meditation, Dagaz appears as a ray piercing the darkness, a door opening wide, a wave of light dispelling all illusions. It brings sudden awareness, awakenings, and turning points, but also luminous peace and gratitude. It is the rune of true beginnings, of final transmutation, of the revelation that changes everything.
Dagaz is invoked when:

• you go through a difficult passage and you seek light and vision
• you want to open the door to a new existential or spiritual cycle
