THE SUN (SOL)

The Sun is not only the source of life and light, but also the beating heart of the alchemical and astrological system. It represents Spirit , consciousness, and creative will.

  • The Sun is one of the Seven Classical Planets (or Luminaries), the visible celestial bodies that are the pillars of Traditional Alchemy.

  • It symbolizes life force, enlightenment and masculine energy (Yang).

  • Alchemical Metal: Gold (Aurum) . It is the incorruptible and perfect metal, which represents the highest realization of the Spirit (the Philosopher's Stone).

  • Element: Fire . Associated with energy, vital heat, passion, transformation, and purification.

  • Alchemical Phase: Rubedo (Reddening). The culmination of the alchemical process, symbolizing the "transmutation into gold" and the highest realization of the Spirit.

  • Stones associated with the Sun (such as Carnelian, Citrine, and Pyrite) are used to strengthen leadership, self-confidence, and physical vitality.

  • These gems work primarily on the Solar Plexus (3rd Chakra) , the center of identity and personal strength.
