RUBEDO (REDNESS / ROSE RUBBERY)

Rubedo is the fourth and final fundamental phase of the Alchemical Work. It represents the phase of Completion , of the perfect union of opposites and transformation into Gold , symbolized by the ROSA RVBEA (Red Rose) and the Red King who emerges triumphant.

The Context of the Work

  • Where it fits: Rubedo follows Citrinitas (Enlightenment) and is the culmination of the entire process.

  • Meaning: It symbolizes the realization of the Spirit (consciousness united with the Soul), perfection, joy and full integration of all aspects of being, obtaining the Philosopher's Stone .

Alchemical and Image Symbolism

  • Color: Red (or blood red), the color of divine fire, transmuted Gold and eternal life.

  • Visual Symbol: The Red King wearing a crown and standing in the red liquid. This represents the Body and Soul that have been united and spiritualized (the Corpus Glorificationis ).
