Physical and chemical characteristics of Sodalite
Sodalite is a mineral belonging to the feldspathoid group, with the chemical formula Na₈(Al₆Si₆O₂₄)Cl₂. It has a hardness of approximately 5.5–6 on the Mohs scale and a vitreous to oily luster. Its most common color is intense blue, often streaked with white veins of calcite or light gray. It is known as the stone of logic, mental clarity, and authentic expression. It acts on the fifth (throat) and sixth (third eye) chakras, promoting truthful communication, clear intuition, and coherent thought.
Family of belonging, sister stones and colors
Sodalite is chemically and symbolically similar to Lapis Lazuli, with which it shares the color blue and mental/spiritual action. It is the sister of Dumortierite and Azurite. Its colors range from blue to blue-purple, sometimes with white inclusions. It is the stone of philosophers, researchers, and authentic communicators. It teaches one to think clearly and speak truthfully.
Most important deposits and countries
The main deposits are found in Canada (Ontario), Brazil, Namibia, Russia, and the United States. Discovered relatively recently (1811), it quickly became a popular stone for meditation, study, and concentration. In modern times, it is also used in therapeutic settings to promote internal dialogue and therapeutic communication.

Sodalite is associated with the sign of Aquarius (January 21st – February 19th), an air sign associated with the higher mind, innovation, and inner freedom. The symbolic constellation is Cygnus: mental elegance, spiritual flight, and celestial messages received with discipline.
