Physical and chemical characteristics of Prehnite

Prehnite is a calcium aluminum inosilicate mineral with the chemical formula Ca₂Al(AlSi₃O₁₀)(OH)₂. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system, has a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, and a vitreous to pearly luster. It is typically light green or yellow-green, sometimes with black epidote inclusions. It is the stone of spiritual preparation, prophetic dreams, and connection with the angelic world. It promotes calm, mental order, and contact with the higher Self.

Family of belonging, sister stones and colors

It belongs to the zeolite group. Its spiritual sister stones are Angelite, Apophyllite, and Selenite. The most common colors are apple green, pale yellow, and translucent milky. It is the stone of guided dreaming, luminous preparation, and inner cleansing.

Most important deposits and countries

The main deposits are found in South Africa, Australia, the United States, China, and France. Discovered in the 18th century, it is named after the Dutch Colonel Hendrik von Prehn. It is widely used in meditation, channeling, and spiritual upliftment.
