Physical and chemical characteristics of Amazonite
Amazonite is a blue-green variety of microcline, an alkali feldspar, with the chemical formula KAlSi₃O₈. It crystallizes in the triclinic system, has a hardness of 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale, and a vitreous or pearly luster. Its unique color is due to the presence of lead and, in some cases, copper. It is a stone associated with emotional balance, emotional communication, and inner peace. Amazonite promotes harmony between heart and mind, intuition and rationality, bestowing calm and truth.
