Fehu is the first rune of the Futhark, and with it the cycle of manifestation begins. It is the gateway to flowing energy, the force that flows and translates into tangible value: goods, nourishment, vital energy, but also love, time, and knowledge. It's not about selfish possession, but rather about recognizing what we've been given, knowing how to receive it, honor it, and use it wisely.
The shape of Fehu evokes the horns of cattle, an ancient symbol of wealth, but also of nourishment and exchange. It echoes sacred pastures, abundant harvests, and a generosity that enriches and enriches both givers and receivers, rather than impoverishing them. Fehu is the initiating flow, but also the responsibility to preserve it.
As our companion stone, we choose hematite, an ally of stability and material protection. Hematite doesn't amplify like other crystals: it grounds, contains, and structures. It brings what flows to earth, creating a stable energetic container. Along with Fehu, it helps preserve abundance, prevent the dispersion of energy or resources, and protect them from those who seek to steal them.
The Fehu activation is simple yet sacred. Trace the rune on a piece of paper, a stone, or a coin with red or gold ink. Light a blood-red or bronze candle, symbolizing the sacred fire of life. Holding the hematite in your left hand (the one receiving it), recite the ritual sound in a low but steady voice:
“Fééé-huuu…”
letting the vibration expand throughout the body and the room, like a breath that brings nourishment and centering.
In meditation, Fehu appears as a fertile field, an irrigating stream, a ring that endlessly closes and opens. It is the rune of true value, of "being self-sufficient" yet connected to the whole. It teaches us that true wealth is not accumulation, but a balanced flow.
During ritual work, Fehu should be invoked for:
• recall the right and not deceptive abundance
• protect your resources
• establish a healthy balance between giving and receiving
